Kendall County, IL (October 26, 2021, 4:00 PM)
On September 3rd, 2021 Kendall County Sheriff’s Detectives were made aware of suspicious computer activity involving an employee of Kendall County Technology Services.
The ensuing investigation revealed an off-duty Kendall County Technology Services employee utilized his privileged access to connect to a secured Kendall County network for personal use and beyond the legal authority granted to him. This employee was immediately placed on unpaid administrative leave upon discovery of the unauthorized use of county assets. His employment was officially terminated on September 24th, 2021. As a result of the investigation, the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Darryl Kollins, a 49-year-old man from the 12000 Block of Fox Road, Yorkville, with two counts of Official Misconduct, class 3 felonies, two counts of Computer Tampering, class 4 felonies, and two counts of Computer Tampering, class B misdemeanors.
A warrant was issued on October 25th, 2021, and bond was set at $10,000, with ten percent to apply. Kollins turned himself in on the warrant today, October 26, 2021, at the Kendall County Public Safety Center. Kollins posted bond, and was released pending his next court date.
The public is reminded that criminal defendants are presumed innocent until the government is able to prove its charges in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
