IL STATE CRIME COMMISSION NAMES DWIGHT BAIRD “SHERIFF OF THE YEAR”
Kendall County, IL (November 9, 2021, 1:45 PM)
Congratulations to Kendall County Sheriff, Dwight Baird, for being named this year’s Sheriff of the Year by the Illinois State Crime Commission. Sheriff Baird received this prestigious award on Thursday, November 4, 2021at Barracco’s Restaurant in Orland Park.
The Illinois State Crime Commission states that Sheriff Baird has implemented several educational and job skills programs for Kendall County Inmates as well as implemented a new inmate video visitation program at no cost to taxpayers. He also worked with community stakeholders to develop and launch a new Domestic Violence Response Team for the residents of Kendall County. This specialized team is made up of individuals from several disciplines, including a full-time detective from the Sheriff’s Office, that work together to support the victims of domestic violence in hopes of reducing the cycle of violence. He has worked to cultivate and maintain community partnerships and increase the transparency of the office by implementing a body-worn camera program.
Sheriff Baird stated, “I am honored to receive this award, and I feel it is a reflection of the hard work and dedication that everyone here at the Sheriff’s Office exhibit on a daily basis. We have implemented a variety of new programs which would not be successful if not for the commitment of our staff. I could not be more proud of this office and the important work that is done every day. I would like to thank the Commission and extend my sincere gratitude for this recognition.”
