Kendall County Sheriff's Office Looking to Hire Deputy Sheriff

Applicants must be at least 21, have a valid driver's license and be free of any felony convictions, among other requirements.

The Kendall County Sheriff Merit Commission is accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the position of Deputy Sheriff-Police with the Kendall County Sheriff's Office.

Salary: $49,707.06 (as of 11/30/15)
Population of Kendall County: 119,348 (323 sq. miles); County seat: Yorkville
Total Sworn Deputy Sheriffs (Police): 57

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the Kendall County Sheriff Merit Commission:

  • Must be a citizen of the United States, or an alien admitted for permanent residence, or lawfully admitted for temporary residence who produces evidence of intention to become a citizen of the United States
  • No felony convictions
  • Valid Illinois driver's license
  • Minimum of 21 years of age at time of hire
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Eye sight correctable to 20/20; free of color-blindness
  • Residency within 25 miles of the Kendall County Public Safety Center within 1 year of hire date
  • Attend a mandatory written examination testing session on Thursday, June 9, 2016
  • Attend a mandatory physical agility test (date to be announced)
  • Pass a physical agility, written examination, psychological evaluation, medical testing, drug screening and background investigation
