Sheriff's Office Uses Smartphone App to Assist with Search for  Missing 12-Year-Old Girl

Kendall County, IL (May 28, 2021, 9:25 AM)

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office successfully located a missing 12-year-old Wednesday afternoon and utilized the Sheriff’s Office Smartphone App along with social media postings to assist with the search effort.

As a result of these notifications, the Sheriff’s Office received several tips with information and possible whereabouts from the community. This information provided by the public directly led to the missing individual being located safely and in a timely manner.   This information also led to a second person, who was reported missing to another local police agency, being located safely as well.  Both individuals were able to be reunited with their families as a result of the information provided by the community.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the citizens of Kendall County for the ongoing partnership and support which allows the Sheriff’s Office to work with the public to bring these kinds of situations to a positive resolution.

Sheriff Dwight Baird stated, “I believe a good relationship with the community we are sworn to serve is essential, and this case is a perfect example of that positive relationship proving invaluable.  This situation also highlights the necessity for a means of disseminating information quickly and accurately such as the Sheriff’s Office Smartphone App and the utilization of social media platforms.  I urge everyone to download the Sheriff’s App to receive this type of timely information as well as to follow our Social Media pages.”
