Adventures await you at the Little White School Museum in Oswego during its week-long display devoted to 4-H Youth Development to celebrate National 4-H Week.

From now until Oct. 10, museum visitors can stop by the community room to discover 4-H, experience project examples, and claim small prizes. 4-H helps youth blaze their own trail, explore the universe and reach their destination through many adventurous options.

4-H provides youth an opportunity to explore many areas, from photography to horticulture and technology to citizenship, just to name a few. 4-H Youth Development programs provide hands- on learning, and focus on building leadership, citizenship and life skills.

According to Tufts University Research, 4-H youth are:

  • Five times more likely to graduate from college than non-4-H peers
  • Four times more likely to make contributions to their communities
  • Three times more likely to spend time exercising or being physically active
  • Two times more likely to pursue a career in science, engineering, or computer technology

The museum is a joint project of the Oswegoland Park District and the not-for-profit Oswegoland Heritage Association, and is located at 72 Polk Street, near historic downtown Oswego. During the week of Oct. 4 to 10, it will be open to the public from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday 2 to 4 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
