Local Artists Featured in ‘The Art of Oswego’
One-day event replaces annual Art Fair
Local artists will be out and about downtown Oswego on Sunday to show and sell their works of art.
The ‘Art of Oswego’ will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 19 along Main Street. The event replaces the annual art fair that used to span the entire weekend.
“We wanted to breathe new life into the Art Fair to make it fun and unique from other local art fairs,” said Community Relations Manager Michele Bergeron. “We wanted the community to embrace and show case the talented individuals that we have in our own back yard.”

One such artist is Adrienne Smith, who works with both ceramics and acrylics.
Smith described her work as modern with an abstract feel, and draws inspiration from nature, using ginkgo leaves in many of her paintings.

She has done several art shows before, but this is her first time participating in Oswego’s. “I’m very excited about the show,” she said. “I’m glad it’s just the one day. It is much easier for me to coordinate to my schedule.”
Smith will have both paintings for sale as well as wheel thrown pottery, many of which are decorated with splashed glazes.
“My paintings and ceramics are very bright, positive fun artwork,” said Smith. A lot of kids she said enjoy her creations due to the vibrant colors.
There will be a wide range of art for sale from the various artists, including photography, jewelry, watercolors and many more.
Live entertainment will be provided throughout the day by the Shawn Maxwell Quartet, students from and the Real Women Bellydance.
Children’s activities will also be available, including all day ones hosted by the Fox River Academy of Music and Art and Oswegoland Seniors, Inc. and a “Chalk the Walk” hosted by the from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Food will also be available from the and the Oswegoland Seniors, Inc.
Admission is free and all artwork is for sale.
