Man, 82, Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Child For 7 Years: Oswego PD

The Oswego man is accused of sexually abusing a child between 2008 and 2015, officials said.

OSWEGO, IL — An 82-year-old man from Oswego is charged with sexually assaulting a child over a period of seven years, police announced Friday.

The Kendall County State's Attorney's Office approved in February nine felony charges against Allen A. Taft, of the 200 block of Judson Avenue. He faces three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and six counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

The assaults happened between 2008 and 2015, according to Oswego police. Detectives concluded a 10-month investigation into the incident in February, the department said Friday.

A Kendall County judge issued a warrant for Taft's arrest Feb. 24, and he was arrested at his house and brought into custody without incident at about 10 p.m. Feb. 27. He was booked and processed at the Kendall County jail the next day.

According to jail records, he posted 10 percent of his $25,000 bond and was released Feb. 28.

Taft is scheduled to appear in court on June 1.
