Montgomery Woman Swindled Blind 66-Year-Old Out Of $3.5K: Oswego PD

The Montgomery woman, 43, was the caregiver of the woman who was legally blind, police said.

OSWEGO, IL — A Montgomery woman is accused of stealing more than $3,500 from a legally blind 66-year-old woman for whom she was caring, Oswego police said Thursday.

The 43-year-old Tiffany Berger was taken into custody Wednesday on an arrest warrant as a result of a 15-month investigation by the Oswego Police Department.

Police received a report in February 2025 alleging Berger fraudulently used the victim's debit and credit cards between September and November 2024, while she was employed, according to a news release.

Detectives obtained numerous financial records through subpoenas to investigate the unauthorized charges, officials said.

On May 5, the Kendall County State's Attorney's Office approved the following eight felonies against Berger and issued a warrant for her arrest.

  • Financial exploitation of an elderly person
  • Financial exploitation of a person with a disability
  • Theft (Four counts)
  • Unlawful use of a credit card (Two counts)

Berger, of the 700 block of Oakton Road, appeared in court on Thursday afternoon and was released from custody under pre-trial conditions.
