New Recycling Carts Delivered Starting Monday
Groot Industries will start hauling waste and recycling on July 1. But first, they're going to deliver a new recycling cart to every home.

Last month, the Oswego Village Board as the village’s new waste hauler. And though they don’t start picking up trash and recycling until July 1, you’ll see their trucks in town starting next week.
On Monday, Groot employees will begin delivering 65-gallon recycling carts to every home in the village. It’s part of a five-year contract that sticks to the unlimited household waste service residents were used to from Republic Services, but lowers the cost of that service by about $3 a month in the first year.
Oswego residents will pay $17.25 a month during that first year, with the cost going up each year, landing on $20.97 a month in year five. Republic Services – the village’s waste hauler for the past 12 years – currently charges $20.44 per month.

For that fee, you’ll get unlimited waste pickup (in your own trash can or black bag, which can’t exceed 35 gallons or 50 pounds), one bulk item per week, and curbside recycling in your new cart. After Groot delivers the 65-gallon cart, you’ll have the option of switching to a 35-gallon or 95-gallon size, which will be delivered the week of July 16. The village will continue to bill you for garbage pickup, so you’ll see no change there.
Your trash pickup day won’t change either, but Groot has asked that you place trash, recycling and anything else you want picked up out at the curb by 6 a.m.
