No Credible Threat Found at Oswego School

A threat that originated on social media was found to be unsubstantiated.

A rumored threat on social between a Thomson Junior High Student and another person, who was not a student nor on school premises, was found to not be credible, according to Oswego police.

“Oswego Police and the school determined there was no credibility to the threat and substantiated that no criminal act occurred,” police said in a Facebook post.

The Oswego Police Department will provide any further support to and assist the school district in the investigation if warranted, the post said.

Oswego police spokesperson Cathy Nevara said police weren’t able to establish what exactly the threat was and determined it to be unfounded.

According to Nevara, police became aware of the situation after school officials were hearing rumors and they decided to have the police come in and help.
