Oswego Chamber to Host Election Forums

The Oswego Chamber of Commerce will host a pair of public forums for Oswego School Board and village board candidates in the April 7 electoin.

The first event, for village offices, is set for 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 9, at Village Hall, 100 Parkers Mill.

The first portion of the event will feature the eight candidates vying for three spots on the village board. The candidates will be “sequestered” from hearing their opponents’ responses, the Beacon News reported. Candidates will draw numbers to determine the order in which they will give three-minute opening statements, then draw numbers again to determine their order for answering three questions.

The second half of the event will be more of a debate between village president candidates Tony Giles and Gail Johnson.

A public forum for Oswego School Board candidates is slated for 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 16.
