Oswego Church 6K To Raise Money For Clean Water Nonprofit

Church of the Good Shepherd is raising money for World Vision, a nonprofit that's considered one of the largest providers of clean water.

OSWEGO, IL — Oswego's Church of the Good Shepherd is hosting a 6K race to raise money for a nonprofit organization that aims to provide clean water to communities in need.

The World Vision Global 6K, which will benefit an organization of the same name, will take place across the country May 20. In Oswego, it will kick off at 9 a.m. at Hudson Crossing Park, 65 S. Harrison St.

The route will take runners — or walkers, as that's encouraged, too — to Violet Patch Park and back to Hudson Crossing Park.

Before and after the race, Good Shepherd's praise band, Reborn, will perform a concert.

"It will be a memorable event where we can practice our faith by caring for those who can’t care for us," Pastor Steve Good said in a statement. "It will be empowering for us knowing that, with our efforts to bring clean water, it creates an environment that also generates health, jobs, security, and hope for the future."

Water stations and portable toilets will be set up along the route.

Registration, which can be completed on World Vision's website, costs $50 for adults and $25 for participants 18 and under.
