Oswego Council Approves Large Screen Addition to Theater
The theater also has plans to serve alcohol. That proposal will be decided upon at a later date.

The Oswego Village Council approved an addition to the Kendall County 10 theater at its Tuesday night meeting.
According to a report from Only Oswego, the theater will add a 9,000 sq. ft. large screen-format theater. The proposal, submitted to the board by Goodrich Quality Theaters, also plans for interior remodeling and exterior updates to the building. The interior renovations will end up removing some of the existing seating from theaters. As of now, the theater contains 1,760 seats. After renovations, it will contain 1,669 seats.
The addition will be constructed on the west side of the building that’s currently used for parking.

GQT also has plans to serve alcohol at its theater, but that will be approved at a later date after background checks are done, according to Only Oswego.
A Village of Oswego memo states that the Village does not have a classification allowing for the sale of alcohol at movie theaters. A Class “O” liquor license has been created that would be specific to the theater.

“This licensing will authorize the licensee sell to the general public, alcoholic liquor for consumption only on the licensed premises operating as a cinema or movie theater venue, consisting of a single or multi- screen operation in conjunction with the purveying of food for consumption on the premises, and further provided that the sale of food and alcoholic beverages shall be an accessory to the operation of the premises as a cinema or movie theater venue,” the memo states.
Once completed, the theater will be renamed Kendall 11 GDX, according to a conceptual design submitted to the Village. The project should take around eight months to complete.
