This is the couple’s first child after trying to get pregnant for several years. Jennifer said decided to try in vitro fertilization, which apparently worked.

“We knew we were having a boy, and I’m so glad I’ll get to go to baseball games and things like that instead of a dance recital,” she told the Tribune. “I was a tomboy growing up and never liked those little pink things. But, if we have a girl someday, that will be fine too.”

The baby’s name, Nicholas, was decided upon several years ago. Six, in fact. During the couple’s second date they talked about having kids and Ben said he thought Nicholas would be a good name. Jennifer agreed.

Six babies were born at Edward Hospital between midnight and 7 a.m. Jan. 1.
