OSWEGO, IL — Heavy snowfall Wednesday morning has caused Groot, Oswego's refuse collector, to postpone pickup, village officials announced Wednesday morning.

In an alert, officials said Wednesday routes will be re-run on Thursday, and collections will be postponed by one day for the remainder of the week. Residents whose garbage is usually collected Friday can expect it taken Saturday.

Several other schools and services were also canceled Wednesday as a result of the snow. Oswego Community Unit School District 308 opted to have a remote learning day. All high school practices and activities were also canceled "due to the continued snowfall, poor travel conditions, and the issue of getting all buildings plowed and ready for tomorrow," district officials announced Wednesday morning.
