Submitted by District 308:
The artwork of some recent Oswego High School graduates will soon receive local recognition.
An alumni visual arts gallery is scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, in the Oswego High School (OHS) learning resource center. The gallery will feature about 30 drawings, paintings, photography, and 3-D pieces from alumni that graduated between 2008 and 2014.
“The gallery is an outward sign of the success of the community, and the fine arts in Oswego,” said OHS Fine Arts Division Chair Michael Skura.
The featured artwork is all on short-term loan to the district, he said. It is work that received some type of regional or national attention while the students were still in high school.
Skura said that he is hoping to use the space in the learning resource center to host more art galleries. Various school, local, and regional officials have also been invited to attend the event.
The high school jazz band will be playing for the first half hour of the gallery. The event will be catered by the high school’s restaurant program.
