One employee was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries after the Friday evening fire at Classic Cinemas Kendall 11.

OSWEGO, IL — A movie theater in Oswego was evacuated Friday evening after a fire started in a boiler room due to a faulty water heater, according to officials at the Oswego Fire Protection District.
Firefighters were dispatched to Classic Cinemas Kendall 11, located at 95 Fifth St., around 8:30 p.m. after a fire alarm was activated. While en route, crews received a 911 call about the incident and learned the fire had started in a boiler room on the second floor, which required the alarm to be upgraded, officials said.
When firefighters arrived, they found the fire had been extinguished by the sprinkler system that had been activated. Theater-goers and staff were also in the process of evacuating.
