OSWEGO, IL — The Oswego Police Department announced it will be taking part in the traffic safety campaign Click It or Ticket through the morning of Sept. 4 in an effort to crackdown on drunk, distracted and unbuckled drivers. The department said it's partnering with the Illinois State Police and local law enforcement across Illinois for the statewide effort, as the upcoming Labor Day holiday is often a deadly time out on the roads.

How deadly? According to police, statistics show an average of 10,000 people were killed each year from 2012 to 2016, which you can also think of as one death every 50 minutes or the equivalent of 20 jumbo jet crashes per year with no survivors.
