Oswego Police Give 89 Warnings, 28 Citations During Speed Awareness Day

Police made a total of 116 traffic stops.

OSWEGO, IL — More than 20 citations and 80 warnings were given by the Oswego Police Department during a recent statewide Speed Awareness Day.

Oswego Police Officers made a total of 116 traffic stops resulting in 89 warnings and 28 citations, including three arrests:

• 24 – Speeding

• 1 – Operating Uninsured Motor Vehicle

• 1 – No Drivers License (arrest)

• 2 – Suspended or Revoked Drivers License (arrest)

Warnings included:

• 88 – Speeding

• 1 – Disobeyed Stop Sign

In Illinois during 2014, speed was the reason for 32.4 percent of all traffic fatalities.

These lives can be easily saved by being aware of vehicle speed and understanding how speeding impacts a crash.

Residents are reminded to do their part to prevent fatalities and reduce injuries on the roadways by being aware of their speed and obeying the speed limit signs all the time.
