Oswego Police Urge Caution on Route 71 Traffic Projects
Oswego police will be conducting extra patrols along Route 71 once the roadway fully opens.

OSWEGO, IL — The Oswego Police Department is advising the public on a number of traffic alerts occurring on Route 71.
The Illinois Department of Transportation is planning to activate the new traffic light signals along Illinois Route 71 between Orchard and Wolfs Crossing roads starting Nov. 2, weather permitting. Residents should use extra caution as motorists become familiar with the signals.
IDOT is also anticipating barrel removal on Route 71 on or before Nov. 14, opening up all lanes in the roadway. Oswego police will be placing a message board on the roadway starting Nov. 6 as a reminder to travel the posted speed limit.

Oswego police will be conducting extra patrols along Route 71 once the roadway fully opens. Specifically, police will be focusing on violations involving speed, seat belts and cell phone usage.
Additionally, the public should anticipate a strong police presence enforcing safe driving in the school zone in front of Oswego High School due to a higher volume of inexperienced drivers that are in the area on a daily basis.
