Oswego Student Earns National Medal in Art Contest

Briana Avalos' work will be displayed in Washington, D.C.

OSWEGO, IL — Oswego High School student Briana Avalos recently earned a National Medal in the 2015 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for her work Life’s PaperThin.

Life’s PaperThin is one of 25 nationally award-winning works selected for display in the President’s Committee for the Arts and Humanities (PCAH) offices in Washington, D.C.

The display in the PCAH offices is part of a larger exhibition, entitled ART.WRITE.NOW.DC. Other showcase settings where works are being displayed include the U.S. Department of Education and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
