An Oswego High School student will be able to walk in the U.S. Capitol and see her artwork displayed there … at least for the next year.
Anne Jakubowski, of Montgomery, was recently named at the 14th District winner of the 2016 Congressional Art Competition.
Jakubowski’s piece, “Uncle Cubby,” won out of 28 entries submitted. She used oil pastels and colored pencils for her close-up portrait which will hang on display in the U.S. Capitol for one year. As winner, Anne also receives two roundtrip plane tickets to Washington, D.C to attend Washington festivities.

“We had a fantastic group of participants this year, and I encourage everyone to look at the gallery of participants,” said Rep. Hultgren in a news release. “I again want to wish congratulations to Anne and the honorable mentions for their hard work—and for everyone for putting the talent of the 14th Congressional District on full display. I look forward to see how these students will use their talents in future careers, for personal enjoyment and for the good of the community.”
