Oswego Woman Hoping Community Will Help Her Give Back to Ronald McDonald House
"My older son looks forward to a hospital trip because he knows Ronald McDonald House is there," she said.

OSWEGO, IL — Samantha Johnson’s sons were both diagnosed with hemophilia at birth. Landon is 4 and his brother, Colton, is just six months old.
Since the beginning of the year, they’ve been hospitalized, for no less than a week, a total of four times, and that’s in addition to their regularly scheduled appointments.
For Johnson and her children, of Oswego, all that time spent in the hospital can be draining, but she’s grateful to an organization for going out of its to make sure they feel at home.

“My older son looks forward to a hospital trip because he knows Ronald McDonald House is there,” she said. “Their foundation has made all these doctor appointments and hospital stays a good time.”
To thank them for what they’ve been doing, Johnson wants to give back.

Without the supervision or guidance of any larger organization, Johnson is asking residents for donations on the Ronald McDonald Family Room wish list, pictured below. She’s also planning to place boxes at local businesses for dropoff.
She’s not looking for monetary donations, however. Only what’s on the list. She asks that if you’d like to donate money, do so to the organization itself.
“For this fundraiser, it’s more of an item-raiser,” she said. “I have a wish list and I want to place boxes in as many local businesses as possible. These items are going to kids with cancer and kids with all these diseases that make the hospital part of their lives.”
She said it’s important for her to give back after the impact the organization has had on not only her life, but her children’s lives.
If you would like to donate or have a box at your business, contact Johnson at 630-809-5371.
