Police Talk Down Man Armed with Gun

No one was injured in the Oswego incident and there were no other people in the home at the time.

OSWEGO, IL — While doing a well-being check Monday morning, Oswego police encountered a man in his garage armed with a handgun.

Police responded to the home located in the 5000 block of Fox Sedge Court at around 10:12 a.m. Jan. 4.

As a precaution, a perimeter around the home was set up and area residents were advised to go to their basements and stay away from doors and windows. Traffic on Half Round Road was also shut down.

Shortly before 1:30 p.m., police were able to talk the man into dropping his gun and he began cooperating.

No one was injured in the incident and there were no other occupants in the home. The subject was taken to a local hospital for examination. Police are still investigating the incident, but no charges have been filed yet.
