Portillo's Fundraiser Will Benefit Family Of Late OHS Teacher

The event will be held in honor of longtime OHS science teacher Nicole Larsen, who died unexpectedly last week.

OSWEGO, IL — Proceeds from a fundraiser Wednesday will benefit the family of Oswego High School science teacher Nicole Larsen, who died unexpectedly last week. From 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 5, Portillo's will donate 20 percent of proceeds from orders at the Oswego location, 2810 Route 34.

Customers are asked to bring in this flier (below) or show it on their smartphone to contribute to the fundraiser.

Larsen, 42, a Yorkville resident, died Thursday. She spent her teaching career at OHS, starting as a student teacher in 2001. She is survived by her fiance, Timothy Berkery III of Yorkville; sons Joshua, Jack and Ryan Larsen of Yorkville; stepdaughters Rebecca and Morgan Berkery; parents Joseph and Shirley Ciszek of Kentucky; brothers Joseph (Sharon) Chirempes of Austin, Texas and Christopher (Rachel Borsodi-Ciszek) Ciszek of Maple Park, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, students and former students "who considered her like a mother," according to her obituary.

Proceeds will be donated to Larsen's family to help with costs and expenses during this difficult time, District 308 said on Facebook.
