Possible Storm Prompts Oswego D308 To Cancel After-School Activities

"The safety of our students and staff is our top priority," officials said.

OSWEGO, IL — Threats of severe weather have prompted Oswego Community Unit School District 308 officials to cancel all after-school activities Wednesday.

The cancellation applies to all practices, clubs, games and building rentals, officials said in an alert on Facebook.

Kids Connection will run as scheduled after school, but parents are encouraged to pick up students as early as possible to allow for safe travel.

The National Weather Service said showers and storms were expected in the morning into early afternoon. The first round of storms could bring locally heavy rain and flash flooding.

A second round of "potentially more dangerous storms" is possible between 2 and 9 p.m. Wednesday, according to the weather service.
