Residents, Interagency Cooperation Helped Find Missing Oswego Boy

The cooperation of multiple law enforcement and rescue agencies, as well as assistance from residents, helped in locating an 11-year-old boy that went missing Tuesday afternoon.

Police were notified at at around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday by Oswego School District 308 that an 11-year-old autistic boy went missing in the area of Treasure Drive and Blue Ridge Drive.

Officers searched the area, but were unable to find the boy. Oswego police created a command post as Oswego East High School to organize a search with neighboring agencies. Notifications were sent out to the public via the Everbridge Mass Notification System and the Oswego Police Department’s Facebook page.

Because of the notifications, numerous tips were received from Oswego residents saying they saw a boy that matched his description.

At 5:58 p.m. Tuesday, the boy was found in the 2400 block of Wilson Creek Circle in Aurora due to information received from Oswego and Aurora residents who had received the Everbridge Mass Notification.
