Road Construction Projects Underway in Oswego

Some projects will last just a day, while others are scheduled to go on for weeks.

OSWEGO, IL — Residents of the Village of Oswego will see several road construction projects currently underway, with some lasting for weeks.

The Illinois Department of Transportation sent the village the following schedule of road construction projects, according to Oswego Public Works Director Jennifer Hughes.

  • On Monday, installation of a noise wall north of IL 71 near Paradise began. Flaggers will be utilized and 71 will be down to one lane. The duration of the project is expected to last one to two weeks.
  • Calumet at IL 71 will be closed Tuesday, April 12. A detour route will be installed. The duration of the project is expected to last a week, give or take.
  • On Tuesday or Wednesday, the IL 71 median between Paradise and Forest will be paved, as will the left turn lanes on 71 east and west of Washington/Plainfield. Flaggers will be out and 71 will be reduced to one lane. The project is expected to last one day.
  • On Thursday or Friday, the traffic pattern on Plainfield/Washington will switch. Currently all traffic is utilizing the west side of the roadway. Traffic will be switched to use the east side of the road. The project is expected to last weeks.
  • Cement for sidewalks and curbs will also be poured at various locations the week of April 11.
