Scam Awareness: Local Police Team For Community Events

Yorkville, Oswego and Montgomery police will offer two presentations to help residents spot and avoid scams.

OSWEGO, IL— Local law enforcement has recently observed an increase in the number of incidents involving scams and prepaid cards. In an effort to help prevent such incidents, law enforcement agencies in Kendall County have come together to host a presentation for residents to become aware of the scams and learn how not to fall victim to such scams.

There will be two opportunities to attend the presentation, one in the evening and one during the daytime:

Monday, October 1, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at the Montgomery Police Department, 10 Civic Center Drive
Friday, October 5, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Oswego Village Hall, 100 Parkers Mill

Some of the topics that will be covered are identity theft, current scams in the United States, what to do if
you believe you were scammed and how to protect yourself from scams. The presentation will last approximately an hour and there will be a question and answer period after.

Agencies hosting the presentations include Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery Police Department, Oswego Police Department, Plano Police Department and Yorkville Police Department.
