Seed Savvy

Save seeds and start them indoors successfully!

On Thursday, May 11 from 9 to 11 a.m., Hilltop Gardeners Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting at the Little White School Museum, 72 Polk Street in Oswego. U of I Extension Services Master Gardener Sheila English will give tips on how to save seeds and start them successfully with a combination of the right soil, light and care. The presentation will follow refreshments and a short business meeting. The public is invited to attend at no cost. Starting seedlings for the garden is one of the best ways to save money and grow varieties of flowers, vegetables and other plants not usually found in stores or garden centers. The garden club also holds an annual plant sale, which will be on May 13 this year, at Fox Bend Golf Course Pavilion, 3516 Route 34, Oswego, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The sale includes a bake sale and raffles. For more information about

the sale or Hilltop Gardeners please call Diane at 630-551-1970 or email vgierhart@aol.com. We are on
