Sheriff's Office, Oswego Police Train for Violent Situations, People
Training for these particular situations focuses on taking immediate action, rather than waiting for specialized tactical teams to arrive.

The Oswego Police Department and Kendall County Sheriff’s Office conducted training this week at a local school for rapid deployment training, which prepares police officers and first responders to deal with potentially violent situations and subjects actively engaged in acts of violence.

These agencies regularly conduct in-house monthly training to provide the community with highly trained officers that have a wide range of tactical resources. This month’s joint agency training concentrated on techniques designed to eliminate or defuse an active shooter or life-threatening situations in which delayed deployment could result in death or serious bodily harm to innocent persons.

Training for these particular situations focuses on taking immediate action, rather than waiting for specialized tactical teams to arrive. Officers are trained to run toward the sound of gunshot and eliminate the threat in order to save lives.
Several certified instructors from both departments and the Oswego Fire Protection District, presented training consisting of simulated scenarios officers may encounter during an active threat of violence, including techniques on building entry, locating and neutralizing an active threat along with tactical casualty care and wound treatment.
