An Oswego Woman Was Killed In A Crash Sunday. To Help, Her Sister Started A GoFundMe Page
"She did everything she could to hold on but the damage was too much [and] she had to let go," Kristin Schwartz's sister said on the fund.
OSWEGO, IL — An Oswego woman was driving out of LaSalle County Sunday morning when her car was hit at an intersection. Kristin Schwartz died that morning, leaving behind her daughter, Mackenzie.
To cover funeral costs and help pay for a funeral service, Kristin's sister started a GoFundMe campaign that has earned thousands of dollars in just one day to help support her child.
"Kristin was tragically taken from us in a fatal car accident the morning of September 26th," wrote Ashley McDowell, the fund's organizer and Kristin's sister. "She did everything she could to hold on, but the damage was too much [and] she had to let go. She will be missed by everyone she had in her life [and] then some."

Although the Kendall County Sheriff's Office is still investigating the nature and cause of the crash, Deputy Dan Briars told Patch that 32-year-old Kristin was driving an SUV east out of LaSalle and into Kendall County on North 4650th Road — where the street turns into Rogers Road. When she started into the intersection with Millington Road, a northbound pickup truck, driven by a 24-year-old man, crashed into hers.
A visitation is scheduled at Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, located at 1617 N. Bridge St. in Yorkville, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. A prayer service will follow from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

"Thank you so much for everyone’s generosity in this insanely hard time," McDowell wrote. "We are so thankful for the support we’ve received so far."
The family didn't respond to Patch's request for comment at the time of publication.
Editor's note: Police originally told Patch Kristin was driving in DeKalb County. The article has been updated to reflect she was actually driving in LaSalle County. Patch apologizes for this error.
