Sparlin Approved as District 308 Superintendent
Dr. John Sparlin will begin his new job July 1.

OSWEGO, IL — The Oswego School District 308 Board of Education has approved Dr. John Sparlin for the district’s top administrative position as Superintendent of Schools beginning July 1.
“I am confident that Dr. Sparlin is the right person to lead School District 308 to the next level and ensure it continues moving in the direction set by the board,” said Board of Education President Matt Bauman in a news release from the district. “I can speak on behalf of the entire board that we are ready to support and move forward with our next superintendent.”
Sparlin joined School District 308 in 2012. Over the past 4 years, Sparlin has supervised the Departments of Human Resources, Student Services, Communications, Food Service, Operations, Transportation and Technology, according to the release.

“I would like to thank the School District 308 Board of Education for providing me the opportunity to serve as the next Superintendent of Schools. I am extremely happy and look forward to leading District 308 and serving the community and staff as the next Superintendent. It is truly an honor and privilege to have been chosen for this position,” Sparlin said in the release. “School District 308 is headed in the right direction and we will continue moving forward striving towards academic excellence and creating opportunities for all students to be successful.”
Sparlin will replace current Superintendent of Schools Dr. Matthew Wendt, who is leaving School District 308 to become Superintendent of Schools of the Fayetteville Public Schools, Fayetteville, Ark. beginning July 1.
