Thompson Junior High Evacuated Over False Fire Alarm

No students were injured and no fire was found.

OSWEGO, IL — A false fire alarm prompted the evacuation of Thompson Junior High early Wednesday afternoon.

According to Oswego School District 308 Communications Director Brian Graves, there was no fire and the kids were all evacuated safely.

“Everything in terms of our safety plan and fire drills went as planned and the kids were safe,” Graves said.

Graves said the alarm went off sometime between 12:30 and 1 p.m. He was unable to comment on what triggered the alarm.

Oswego Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Josh Walters said the fire department walked through the building and found no water flowing or pull stations activated.

"The alarm company and the school were working on figuring out what triggered the alarm," Walters said.

Firefighters left the scene shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday, according to Walters.
