Veterans Day 2019: What's Open, Closed In Oswego

OSWEGO, IL - Veterans Day will be observed this Monday. The holiday originally started as a day to reflect upon the heroism of those who died in our country's service and was originally called Armistice Day. However, in 1954, the holiday was changed to "Veterans Day" in order to account for all veterans in all wars.

On Nov. 11, the Village of Oswego offices will be closed in observance of Veterans Day.

Here's a look at what other places will be closed this Monday:

What's Closed

• Local, state and federal offices
• Public libraries
• Post offices
• Most banks will be closed to observe the holiday

What's Open

The following will be open at the business owner's discretion:

• Restaurants
• Convenience stores
• Liquor stores
• Gas stations
• Retail stores (check with your local retailers first)
• Schools located in Community Unit School District 308 will be in session on Monday
