HOLIDAY CRAFT FAIR
The Oswego Senior Center is hosting its annual holiday craft fair featuring unique handmade Christmas décor, ornaments, gift items and much, much more. The event will take place on Saturday, November 19 from 9am to 3pm at 156 E. Washington Street. Call 630-554-5602 for more details or stop in and pick up a flyer. LET’S BAKE COOKIES!
Wednesday, November 16: 10am – 2pm
It’s that time of year to get together to bake cookies for the Oswego Senior Center to sell at our Annual Holiday Craft Fair. We supply ingredients, and you supply the help! Please join us at 156 E. Washington Street. Call 630-554-5602 to sign up.

SPINE & BACK BY ATHLETICO
November 30: 9:30 am
Join us at the Oswego Senior Center as we learn about basic anatomy & physiology, common injuries in older adults, symptoms requiring medical follow up, and preventative exercises with handouts. Program will take place at 156 E. Washington Street. Please RSVP by calling 630-554-5602.

INTERNATIONAL COOKING CLASSES
Tuesday, November 22: noon to 2pm
The Oswego Senior Center is heading to Mexico this month for our international cooking class! We will be making fresh tortillas, pico de gallo and chicken and mole sauce in this hands-on class. Classes are held at the OSC kitchen, 156 E. Washington Street. Space is limited to 10 people per program – please RSVP. $5 per person. For more information call 630-554-5602.

COOKING CLASSES: TASTE OF AUTUMN
Friday, November 11: 12 – 2pm
Autumn is in the air; we will be making food that says Autumn, including Roasted Vegetable Soup with Goat Cheese and fresh bread. Join us for our monthly cooking class at the Oswego Senior Center, 156 E. Washington Street; topics change each month. $5 per class – must have a minimum of 4 people, 10 people max. WHAT YOU NEED TO TELL YOUR KIDS: LIVING WILL / ADVANCED DIRECTIVES
Wednesday, November 30: 1 – 3pm
Learn what you need to tell your kids about or what kids need to talk about with parents/loved ones in regard to health and finances. Being prepared and having loved ones “in the loop” makes decision-making easier in times of emergency situations. Learn about Powers of Attorney, POLST, advanced directives/living will. CAREGIVER SERIES: EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION
Tuesday, November 15: 11am – 1pm
Being an effective communicator is not always a straightforward endeavor. Learn how to change strategies to work with presenting behaviors and concerns in order to help produce better results and reduce frustration. Presented by Keith Beilema, Kendall County Health Department, Transitions Program. Lunch Sponsor: Jennings Terrace. Lite lunch will be served – please RSVP by calling 630-554-5602. LEGISLATIVE FORUM

Join us at the Oswego Senior Center as we explore Chicago and the suburbs through WTTW’s Geoffrey Baer’s Chicago: The Complete Tour Collection (DVD’s) without commercial interruption! COMPUTER CLASSES FOR SENIORS
The Oswego Senior Center provides free computer and mobile device technology classes and one-to-one assistance for seniors. Registration is required. Contact Sharon at 630-554-5602 or email info@oswegoseniorcenter.org to sign up for a class or individual assistance.
Classes will run in the computer lab at the Oswego Senior Center, 156 E. Washington Street on the following dates:

  • Learning Windows 10 – November 8 & 10 from 1-2:30pm, sign up required.

  • Online Shopping & Selling Items Online – November 29 from 1-2:30pm, sign up required.

TED TALKS & DISCUSSION
Wednesday, November 9: 1 – 3:30pm
(every month, 2nd Wednesday)
TED talks are recorded presentations on a number of topics that are available online. This month’s topic will be “Feel Good About Aging.” Every 2nd Wednesday of the month, the Oswego Senior Center will watch a TED Talk or two, then discuss our thoughts on the matter. Join us at 156 E. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The Oswego Senior Center has multiple opportunities for volunteerism, for all ages, individuals and groups throughout the year.   • Mobile Device Assistance: Are you patient and tech savvy? Join our volunteer tech team by providing one-on-one education to seniors. Devices would include smart phones, tablets, notebooks, etc. Provide assistance in social media, photo sharing, texting, and other applications.
  • Holiday Craft Fair – November 19; Cookie Bakers, Ticket Handlers, Set-up & Teardown, Waitstaff
  • Kids Younger than 14: Make holiday crafts or cards at home and drop off at the senior center for distribution.
  • Income Tax Assistance Volunteer: Seeking a person knowledgeable in Income Tax filing. Must take online self-training courses and test to qualify. We do income tax returns for seniors and low income persons on Mondays from 12:30 to 5pm starting in mid-February and a few Saturdays in March until close of season.
  • Van Driver: Must be over 21 years of age and have a clean driving record; some experience driving a 12-passenger van would be ideal, but not required. Will train. Van is used to transport our choral group to events, day trips in area and to Chicago, shopping; substitute driver for meal days as needed. Contact Pat Feeley at 630-5545-5602.

Sometimes a chat can liven up your day! Join us on Fridays for coffee and conversation. Meets every Friday at 10am at the Oswego Senior Center, 156 E. Washington Street, in the computer lab.
