Women's Film Festival to Light Up Screen in Oswego

A film festival promoting awareness of issues faced by women will be held at the Oswego Village Hall Feb. 27.

The festival, LUNAFEST, highlights women as leaders in society, illustrated through nine short films by women filmmakers. The films range from animation to fictional drama, and cover topics such as women’s health, motherhood, body image, aging, cultural diversity and breaking barriers, according to a release from the Oswego Village Hall.

All proceeds from LUNAFEST will benefit the Breast Cancer Fund and Mutual Ground. Thus far, LUNAFEST, which is created and funded by LUNA, The Whole Nutrition Bar for Women, raised over $757,000 for Breast Cancer Fund and more than $1,715,000 for other women’s non-profit organizations.

Two viewings will be available on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 3:45 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. at the Oswego Village Hall. Each event begins with a reception at 3 p.m. or 7 p.m. which includes a dessert buffet, shopping from local vendors and beverages, followed by the films. Tickets are $20 each and available at lunafest.org now or at the Oswego Village Hall.
