2 Charged After Officers Punched, Kicked, Spat On: Palatine Police
Officers and both defendants sustained injuries during the Sunday disturbance on East Osage Lane, authorities said.

PALATINE, IL — Two Palatine residents face felony charges after police reported officers were punched, kicked and spat on while responding to a disturbance Sunday afternoon.
Jovani Perez-Antonio, 35, and Martha Arce Martinez, 29, were arrested following the encounter in the 400 block of East Osage Lane. Officers and both defendants sustained minor injuries, according to a Thursday news release from the Palatine Police Department.
Officers responded at about 3:10 p.m. Sunday, and attempted to detain Perez-Antonio during their investigation.

Perez-Antonio became physically combative, punching officers, spitting in an officer’s face and kicking a police sergeant in the face, according to the department.
While officers were attempting to take Perez-Antonio into custody, Arce Martinez threw a beer can at an officer, striking him in the back. She then resisted attempts to detain her, kicked officers and spat in an officer's face.

Charges Filed Against Both
Perez-Antonio was charged with:
- Four counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer, Class 2 felonies.
- Three counts of aggravated assault of a peace officer, Class 4 felonies.
- One count of resisting arrest, a Class A misdemeanor.
- One count of violating an order of protection, a Class A misdemeanor.
Perez-Antonio appeared for a detention hearing Tuesday at the Cook County Third District Municipal Courthouse in Rolling Meadows and was released in this case. His next court appearance is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Oct. 21, in Room 108.
Arce Martinez was charged with:
- Four counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer, Class 2 felonies.
- One count of aggravated assault of a peace officer, a Class 4 felony.
- One count of resisting arrest, a Class A misdemeanor.
Arce Martinez was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear at the Rolling Meadows courthouse at 9 a.m. Friday, in Room 108.
