2 Cook Co. Aldi Stores Reopening, Offering Popular Giveaways

COOK COUNTY, IL — Two Cook County Aldi stores will soon reopen, unveiling updated stores, a larger produce selection and hosting popular giveaways. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for the Hoffman Estates Aldi, at 375 W. Higgins Road, at 8:25 a.m. on Friday, June 28, with the grocer's popular Golden Ticket giveaway to follow. Gift cards will be given to the first 100 customers, shoppers can sample Aldi-exclusive brand foods and enter a sweepstakes to win free Aldi produce for one year, according to a news release from Aldi.

In July, the Prospect Heights Aldi store will reopen, showcasing its updated interior and hosting similar giveaways. The ribbon cutting ceremony at the store, 1432 E. Rand Road, will be held at 8:25 a.m. on July 18.

Company officials say the updated stores features expansive refrigeration space to accommodate the "fresh, healthy and convenient products people want most." The stores also expanded their product offerings, making 20 percent of its total selection new, including many organic, convenient and easy-to-prepare options.

The updated Aldi stores will have open ceilings, natural lighting and environmentally friendly building materials, according to the press release. Aldi is spending $180 million to update 130 of its Chicago area stores by the end of 2020 and will spending $1.9 billion on upgrades at 1,300 stores nationwide.

“We listened when we heard ALDI customers wanted more fresh and convenient options, and our remodeled stores allow us to offer them exactly what they’re looking for,” said Laura Branneman, Batavia division vice president. “Expanding our fresh product selection is just one of the ways we’ve improved the grocery shopping experience at ALDI and we’re excited to introduce this to our shoppers in Hoffman Estates.”
