5 Healthy Hacks For The Workplace

Staying healthy at work isn't always the easiest. Out with the old habits and in with the new. Try some of these tips to stay healthy.

1. Stand or Take Walks

Think about it. You’re at work for at least 8 hours a day sitting in front of the computer. How often do you walk around or even stand up? It’s important for health that you aren’t sedentary the entire day. So take a walk during your break or take the long way to the bathroom!

2. Stay Hydrated

It’s very important to stay hydrated at all times. Water helps to flush out toxins and bring nutrients to your body. You should be drinking eight 8oz glasses of water everyday. You can even take it one step further and switch out soda and coffee for water!

Bring your own food to work. Everyday you eat lunch and snack at work! Instead of heading out to the nearest restaurant you should pack your own lunch and healthy snacks! Therefore you can bring healthier options and avoid all the fat and sodium.

4. Fit In Some Office Exercise

When you’re feeling a little tired mid afternoon, switch out that cup of coffee for a little exercise. Exercising releases the brain chemical dopamine which wakes you up and energizes you! Here are some exercises you can try!

  • Cubicle dip- Tricep dips can be done pretty much anywhere at anytime. Stand facing away from your desk and place your palms on the edge. Extend your legs out in front of you with a slight bend. Bend your arms to a 90 degree angle and prepare to feel the burn. Repeat as long as you’d like!
  • Cubicle squats- Put your chair to the side and stand in front of your computer! Bend your knees to a 90 degree angle (or as low as you can go) and pretend you’re sitting in your chair! Stay like that as long as you can!
  • Take the stairs- What’s a better way to avoid awkward conversation with people in your office than to take the stairs instead of the elevator? You can even try skipping every other stair for a thigh and butt workout!

5. Remember to take a Deep Breaths

Being stressed or frustrated at work is natural when there are deadlines and important documents to be turned in. But instead of letting it affect your attitude or performance it’s important to take some time to relax and center yourself. A little meditation or a couple deep breaths should help!
