Funding To Improve Transportation In Palatine Approved By Cook County Board

The projects are intended to improve state of good repair, operations, safety and support the regional economy.

PALATINE, IL — A number of transportation-related projects in Cook County, including one in Palatine, were recently approved by the Cook County Board of Commissioners. Specifically, planning, design and construction contracts were given the thumbs-up by the 17-member board and its president.

The multi-modal projects, overseen by Cook County's Department of Transportation and Highways, are intended to improve state of good repair, operations, safety and support the regional economy, according to the board.

In Northbrook, Deerfield and Palatine, a sum of $1,190,562 was approved for a preliminary engineering and environmental (Phase I) study to support replacing the decks of three bridges on Lake Cook Road: Lake Cook Road Bridge over the slough, Lake Cook Road Bridge over the Canadian National Railway and Lake Cook Road Bridge over the Middle Fork North Branch Chicago River in the villages.

In northern Cook County, which includes Evanston, Glenview, Northbrook, Arlington Heights, Palatine, and Skokie, a sum of $415,250 was approved for bituminous and prime coat materials for partial and full depth pavement patches and pothole patching in the summer months to maintain a safe riding surface for vehicular traffic in the two northern maintenance districts of Cook County.
