Palatine PD Participating In 2026 Prescription Drug Take Back Day (patch.com) — Palatine residents will have a chance to safely dispose of unwanted prescription medications this Saturday, April 25, as the Palatine Police Department joins the DEA’s National Prescription Take Back Day. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 595 N. Hicks Road, officers will collect unused drugs as part of a long-running nationwide effort to reduce excess medications in homes.
2. Cue the Senate: What's next for bill to shuffle Bears to the suburbs? (dailyherald.com) — State lawmakers are advancing a bill to support a new Chicago Bears stadium in Arlington Heights, and Palatine leaders are weighing the potential tax and infrastructure impacts. Mayor Jim Schwantz says he’ll only back the project if it’s cost-neutral for Palatine, while local school districts are closely monitoring how property tax changes could affect area residents.
3. Mexican national convicted of attempted carjacking in Palatine now faces federal illegal immigration charge (dailyherald.com) — A man previously convicted in connection with a 2023 attempted carjacking in Palatine is now facing a separate federal charge for allegedly reentering the U.S. after a 2020 deportation. He’s already serving concurrent prison sentences for the Palatine case and a weapon offense in Cook County jail, and is now in federal custody facing possible additional penalties.
4. $408K Funding To Improve Transportation In Mount Prospect Approved By Cook County Board (patch.com) — Palatine drivers are set to benefit from Cook County’s approval of $415,250 for summer pothole and pavement patching across northern suburbs, including Palatine. The board also backed a separate $408,748 resurfacing and safety project in Mount Prospect and several countywide roadway maintenance and drainage initiatives aimed at improving long-term road conditions.
