• Plan for brewery on Durty Nellie's site advances to Palatine village board (dailyherald.com) — Plans to convert Durty Nellie's in downtown Palatine into a Big Grove Brewery restaurant cleared the village planning and zoning commission and now head to the village council Sept. 8. The Iowa-based company outlines a family-friendly, dinner-focused venue with on-site brewing, a major patio, and some nods to Durty Nellie's legacy, aiming to become a new community gathering spot near the Metra station.
   

• Kelley takes over brother's judge seat after 23 years on Harper College board (dailyherald.com) — Harper College, based in Palatine, has a vacancy on its board after longtime trustee Bill Kelley became a Cook County judge, filling the same subcircuit seat once held by his brother. Trustees have appointed Barrington resident and health-care executive Tricia Elliott to serve out his term, continuing leadership for the community college that serves Palatine and the Northwest suburbs.
