A Palatine police officer saw a vehicle commit a traffic violation around 8:45 p.m. Monday, in the 1300 block of East Palatine Road and conducted a stop, according to police.

During the stop, officers conducted what police described as a consent search of the vehicle.

Police said the search turned up two loaded firearms. One of the guns was determined to have been reported stolen.

Following further investigation, the Cook County State's Attorney's Office approved felony charges against both men.

Both men appeared for detention hearings Tuesday and were released with conditions of pretrial release.

Their next court appearances are scheduled for Sept. 15 at the Cook County Third Municipal District Courthouse in Rolling Meadows.
