Palatine American Legion holds golf outing fundraiser

The Palatine Sons of the American Legion (S.A.L.) is holding a golf outing on Saturday, September 26th at Old Orchard Country Club.

The Palatine Sons of the American Legion (S.A.L.) is holding a golf outing on Saturday, September 26th at Old Orchard Country Club at 700 West Rand Road in Mount Prospect as a fundraiser for Legion Charities.

The outing includes 18 holes of golf at Old Orchard followed by a dinner and prize presentations. The cost of the outing is $125.00 per golfer or $500.00 for a foursome. Opportunities for sponsorships are also available. Additional information is available by calling Bill Pohlman at 847-359-1606.

Checks should be written to the American Legion Post 690 attention golf outing and can be dropped off in the Legion clubroom prior to Monday, September 16th. Checks can also be mailed to American Legion Attn: Golf Outing 122 West Palatine Road, Palatine, IL 60067 to arrive by September 16th.

"This is an opportunity for you to support the American Legion and have some fun," said Mike Rocha, Commander of the S.A.L. of the Palatine American Legion Post 690. "We will be teeing off at 1:30 PM and dinner will follow golf. The outing will be a scramble with prizes for men and women winners as well as Closest to the Pin, Closest to the Center Drive and Longest Putt."

The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veteran's organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation's largest veterans' service organization, committed to mentoring and sponsorship of programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting a strong national security and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans.

The Sons of the American Legion was created in 1932 as an organization within the American Legion. The S.A.L. is made up of boys and men of all ages whose parents or grandparent served in the United States military and became eligible for membership in the American Legion. There are currently 300,000 members of the S.A.L. in this country and abroad.

The Palatine Chapter of the S.A.L. holds their monthly general meeting on the third Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM at the American Legion Hall on Palatine Road in Palatine.
