Palatine Man Charged After Approaching Juvenile Girl: Police

Police said the 28-year-old grabbed the girl's wrist and asked for her social media information.

PALATINE, IL — A 28-year-old Palatine man has been charged after police said he approached a juvenile girl, grabbed her wrist and asked for her social media information.

Police said the incident happened Sept. 1, at about 9:30 a.m., while the girl was walking near North Rand Road and North Winslowe Drive.

According to police, the man placed his hand on the juvenile's wrist and asked for her social media account information. The girl pulled away and continued walking.

Palatine detectives later identified a suspect during their investigation, police said.

Richard Clay-Brooks, 28, of Palatine, was located Sept. 6 and taken into custody without incident.

Clay-Brooks was charged with one count of battery, a Class A misdemeanor, and one count of disorderly conduct, a Class C misdemeanor.

He was processed and released from Palatine police custody.

Clay-Brooks is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 24, at 10:30 a.m., in Room 203 at the Cook County Third Municipal District Courthouse in Rolling Meadows.

Police are asking anyone who may have experienced a similar incident to contact the Palatine Police Department at 847-359-9000.

The charges are accusations, and Clay-Brooks is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
