Andrew Joseph Applegate, age 17 of Palatine, died tragically while on a family vacation. Loving son of Bennett P. and Sheila nee Gibbons; special little brother of David, Bennett, Jr., Ryan and Colin; dear grandson of Marilyn Gibbons Denten (Raymond), the late David J. Gibbons and the late Thomas and Vivian Applegate; beloved nephew of David (Cathy) Gibbons, Kathleen Gibbons, Maureen (Dan) Chopp. Patricia (Lou) Bartoshesky, Barbara Jackson, Peggy (Bob) Marotta, Theresa Phillips,Tom Applegate, Marty Nagle, Susan (Brian) Manion and Mary (Ed) Feick; cousin of many; caring big brother to many Safe Families Foster Children; and friend of many in both the Palatine and St. Ignatius communities. Andrew finished his junior year at St. Ignatius College Prep where he was active in Football and Lacrosse. Andrew will be remembered by his family and friends as a loving, kind, caring , gentle, intelligent and witty young man.

Funeral Information

Funeral Mass Saturday July 7, 11:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 2515 W. Palatine Road, Inverness. Interment All Saints Cemetery. Visitation Friday 3-9 p.m. at Holy Family Church.
