Attempted Murder Charges For Palatine Teen In Gang-Related Shooting

The Palatine 16-year-old was arrested and is being charged as an adult in connection with the shooting that wounded 2 teens Friday.

PALATINE, IL — A 16-year-old Palatine boy has been arrested in connection with the shooting of two other teens Friday outside of a condo complex clubhouse in the village, according to police. Diego Garcia-Cordero, of the 0-100 block of Dundee Quarter Drive, was charged as an adult, and he faces three counts of attempted murder and two counts of aggresive battery with a firearm, Palatine police said in a statement released Saturday. He was taken to Chicago's Cook County Juvenile Detention Center where he'll wait for his bail hearing.

The arrest came after "a comprehensive investigation" between Palatine police and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office that looked into the shooting that wounded two teens Friday, May 12, in the 1100 block of Randville Drive. Police responded to a report of gunfire just before 11 a.m., and officers found both boys with gunshot wounds to their legs that didn't appear to be life threatening. They were treated by paramedics at the scene and then taken to two separate hospitals.
