Over the past couple of years, inactivity rates have been increasingly rising, according to the 2015 Participation Report by the Physical Activity Council. 2014 alone saw the highest inactivity rates in the past six years, reaching 82.7 million Americans. What once was valued and practiced daily is being thrown to the side for other commitments, whether it be work, school or other activities.
It’s not that sitting should be frowned upon all together, but long periods of being sedentary can really hurt your health. High rates of inactivity are linked to high blood pressure, obesity, cardiovascular diseases and certain cancers.
