Bernie Sanders Impersonator Thanks Kasich for Staying Classy at Palatine Town Hall: VIDEO

The presidential Republican candidate made a campaign stop in Palatine on Wednesday.

PALATINE, IL - Republican presidential candidate John Kasich got a visit on stage at a campaign stop in Palatine Wednesday from a Bernie Sanders impersonator who thanked him for keeping it classy.

"This is not so much a question as it is a compliment. On behalf of all the American people, I want to thank you for bringing a little class to the Republican debates," the impersonator, who is actually Pat Tomasulo with WGN News, said. "Not talking millionaire class, or billionaire class. But regular class."

Tomasulo was at the event dressed as Sanders when Kasich invited him on stage. He had a full face of makeup, wore a wig and, at one point, took a selfie with Kasich, according to CBS News.

CNN said Tomasulo must have been "channeling comedian Larry David's impression of Sanders." David is well-known for his impression of Sanders on Saturday Night Live.

Kasich made a stop at the Palatine Park District Community Center Gymnasium Wednesday afternoon ahead of the March 15 Illinois Primary election. About 1,200 people attended the town hall event, according to CNN.

Kasich finished in third in the Republican presidential primary in Michigan Tuesday with 24.29 percent of the vote. Donald Trump won the state with 36.51 percent of the vote and Cruz was not far ahead of Kasich with 24.92 percent of the vote.
